I love the analogy you used Susan Rooks. Exactly, just imagine as one example I read: You get a divorce- the feelings are real. The pain is real. No one would tell another person to just snap out of it, it’s grief and affects the person mentally and physically.

What people don’t understand about Generalized Anxiety disorder is that people who suffer feel similar to that person going through a divorce as one of many examples, except the illness stays with you & the gift of time & positive changes don’t heal you. There are also different levels of GAD, so many have comorbid diseases which makes it that much harder for a Physician to treat, especially since they have not come up with new medications in years. They are “recycling” medications that were used for other illnesses in the 80’s or 90’s and marketing them as new. It’s so frustrating.
