David, the books you’ve suggested are excellent selections.
At this moment, the one book that stands out for me (and is a great piece of history) is The Diary of a Young Girl- Anne Frank’s diary she kept while in hiding from Nazi Occupation. There are reasons beyond the story that it’s important to understand how history unfolded and affected individuals/families.
I also read Anne Franks, Tales from the Secret Annex, another good book.
When people don’t stay informed about history, they are unable to see that it may be repeating itself.
